Literature Text

The little girl inside,
the one with the pigtails.
She would stand with her mummy
holding her hand.
I thought mummy cared.
No, mummy didn't.
She hit me.
She'd scold me.

If only I could share my secret,
if only they knew.
Who would know that I,
That little girl, the funny one,
was being abused.
Neglected by the ones she loved.
She cared about mummy,
mummy didn't seem to care.

Left in her room,
to fend for herself.
Society gave no mercy.
I'd come into school,
red eyed and sad.
"drama-queen" they'd taunt.
If only they knew.
They'll never know.

What it's like to have to live,
with the two people you loved,
hurting you, neglecting you.
When a young 12 year old girl,
was left, to look after herself.
No-one would know how much pain
the slaps, the punches bought.
Why would they do it?

How could they?
How could they hurt their creation?
Something they raised from a baby.
To be used to hurt and scold.
And you ask why I cut myself?
Why I've tried suicide 4 times?
You're like society,
You'll never accept someone like me.
. . .

Another great poem well written but deeply saddening that any girl should have to suffer that xxx
